This pagan tradition is also known as Yule and is one of the oldest winter celebrations.
Held in Riga Latvia each December it is a family event with everyone participating in the excitment. The Yule logs are pulled through the streets of the city by teams of prople dressed in traditional costumes. As the logs are pulled, legends tells that all the evil spirts to jump on. The logs are then pulled to the main square where the bonfire is started. The Yuel logs are then piled on the fire to burn out the evil spirts of the old year and prepare for the coming of the new year. www.RigaTree.com
