The Season Closing Concert of LNSO
In the conclusion of this season of the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra on May 15, 2009 at 19:30 at the Great Guild, in Riga – one of the masterpieces of the world music, an ageless and immortal music, announcing of the eternal values – faith and hope – Requiem by Giuseppe Verdi. A beautiful instrument in the marvellous enunciation will be the brilliant ensemble of soloists. The soprano Michèle Crider – diva of the largest opera houses of the world, who has performed at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, Vienna State Opera, will make her Riga debut together with international opera stars – the Russian mezzo-soprano Elena Batoukova, already known to the audience of Riga, the Mexican tenor José Luis Duval, who is able to excite the public in the best theatres and operas in his native country, as well as in America and Europe; and, of course, with the outstanding Latvian bass Egils Siliņš, whose performance in Latvia is always a beautiful event. State choir „Latvija” will participate in the concert. At the conductor’s stand this evening – the next chief conductor of the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra Karel Mark Chichon, who has very recently gained a success at the Vienna State Opera and Berlin Philharmony.
