Not enough sun in Latvia? www.saulesmuzejs.lv
It used to be only one sun – now there are hundreds of them!
It all started with a small sun shaped pendant brought by the founder of the museum from the sunny Portugal. Soon enough collection of different sun shaped objects became quite a passion to Iveta Gražule. Now the private collection of suns has grown to an impressive exposition with hundreds of items.
The Sun Museum is the only one in Europe introducing with the different interpretations of the Sun among different nations. You will have a chance to observe works of craftsmen and artists from almost all countries of the world, including Latvia, which has a separate exhibition.
Each visitor receives a white plaster sun as a gift from the museum and is invited to paint it at the museum’s creative studio. One by one these small suns are spreading all over the world accompanied by pleasant memories. Before leaving it’s a must to stop at the museum’s souvenir shop and check out the original items made by the local artists, so you can take a bit of light and warmth along with you. Ave Sol!
