Latvia Record temperatures Summer 2010

This past summer was the hottest on record in Latvia

RIGA, Sept 1 (LETA) - The average temperature this past summer in Latvia was 18.4 degrees Celsius, 2.6 degrees Celsius above the norm, ETA was informed by the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Center.

Thus, this summer was the hottest on record in Latvia. The previous hottest summer on record was in 2002, with an average temperature of 18 degrees Celsius.

Daily temperature records were broken on 24 days this past summer, with temperatures exceeding 30 degrees Celsius on 23 days.

The hottest temperature this summer was recorded on July 13 in Ventspils (northwestern Latvia) - 34.8 degrees Celsius, which was also the hottest day ever recorded in the city, and only 1.6 degrees below the highest temperature ever recorded in Latvia - 36.4 degrees Celsius on August 4, 1943 in Daugavpils (southeastern Latvia).
